About our AI software practice

A small team that cares more about whether the model works on Tuesday morning than how impressive the demo looked on Friday.

How we got here

Assured Smart started in 2019 in a rented office above a dépanneur on Boulevard des Laurentides. The founder, Nadia Tremblay, had spent eight years as a data engineer at a large Montreal bank. She kept seeing the same pattern: the bank would spend months building a machine-learning model, then struggle to get anyone to actually use it. The models were accurate. The deployment was the problem.

She left to start a company focused on that gap. The idea was simple: build AI tools that plug into the software people already use, so adoption is not an obstacle. The first client was a trucking company in Laval that needed help with invoice processing. That project is still running today, five years later, with quarterly retraining and an error rate below 3%.

By 2021 the team had grown to six people. We moved into a proper office on Nikolaus Motorway. Today we are fourteen: seven engineers, three data scientists, two project managers, a designer, and Nadia. We have completed 127 projects for companies in logistics, healthcare, manufacturing, retail, and professional services.

What we believe

These are not slogans on a wall. They are rules we use to make decisions when a project gets complicated, which it always does eventually.

Honest scoping

If AI is not the right tool for your problem, we will say so during the discovery sprint. We have turned down projects where a well-structured spreadsheet would have done the job. Selling you something you do not need would cost us a referral later.

Data stays in Canada

Every byte of client data is processed and stored on Canadian infrastructure. We do not route data through US or European servers, even temporarily. For clients in regulated industries like healthcare or finance, this is a hard requirement, and we treat it that way for everyone.

Fixed-price discovery

The two-week discovery sprint has a fixed price. You know the cost before we start, and you get a written deliverable at the end regardless of whether you continue with us. No open-ended consulting invoices during the exploration phase.

Built to hand off

We write documentation for your developers, not for ours. Every project includes a technical handoff session and a runbook that covers deployment, monitoring, retraining, and common failure modes. If you want to bring maintenance in-house after year one, you can.

The people behind the work

We are a mix of backgrounds: computer science, applied mathematics, industrial engineering, and one former high-school physics teacher who retrained as a data scientist at 34. What we share is an obsession with making models work in production, not just in notebooks.

Portrait of Nadia Tremblay Nadia Tremblay Founder and lead architect

Eight years as a data engineer at National Bank before starting Assured Smart. Nadia designs the system architecture for every project and reviews all production deployments personally.

Portrait of Olivier Desrochers Olivier Desrochers Senior data scientist

Olivier holds a master's degree in applied mathematics from Université de Montréal. He specialises in time-series forecasting and has built prediction models for healthcare, logistics, and retail clients.

Portrait of Mei-Lin Huang Mei-Lin Huang Full-stack engineer

Mei-Lin builds the web interfaces and API layers that connect our models to client systems. She joined Assured Smart in 2021 after four years at a fintech startup in Toronto.

Portrait of Kofi Mensah Kofi Mensah Project manager

Kofi coordinates between our engineering team and the client's stakeholders. He ran IT projects at a manufacturing firm for six years before joining us, so he understands factory-floor constraints as well as boardroom expectations.

Our timeline

A short history of the company so far.

2019 — Founded

Nadia Tremblay registered Assured Smart as a sole proprietorship and signed the first client, a freight carrier in Laval. The initial project was an invoice-processing pipeline that is still in production today.

2020 — First healthcare project

Clinique Santé Plus contracted us to build a patient-volume prediction model. This project pushed us to learn about health data regulations in Quebec and shaped our strict data-residency policy.

2021 — Team grows to six

We hired three engineers and moved into our current office on Nikolaus Motorway. Revenue that year was enough to incorporate as a private company.

2023 — 100th project delivered

We crossed the hundred-project mark in September 2023. The hundredth project was a custom quoting tool for a cabinetry manufacturer in Sherbrooke.

2025 — Fourteen people, 127 projects

The team now includes seven engineers, three data scientists, two project managers, a designer, and the founder. We are actively hiring a fifth data scientist and a second designer.
